The Utah State Board of Education will join the State Board of Regents and Governor Gary Herbert for a discussion about the governor’s Educational Excellence Commission on Friday, Jan. 21. This portion of the regularly scheduled regents meeting begins at noon at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus of Salt Lake Community College. BOARD OF REGENTS TO MEET JANUARY 21 IN SALT LAKE CITY
First meeting of 2011 to be held at Salt Lake Community College
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s regular State Board of Regents will meet Friday January 21 beginning at 9 am in the Student Center on the Taylorsville Redwood Campus at Salt Lake Community College for the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting. At noon, this month’s meeting will feature a joint discussion with the State Board of Education and information on the Governor’s Educational Excellence Commission from special guest Governor Gary Herbert.
Agenda highlights also include:
- Approval of policy revisions for standards for granting credit for course work completed in non-credit formats (i.e. UCAT Articulation)
- State of the College report from SLCC President Cynthia Bioteau
- Discussion of Common Core Curriculum Standards for K-16
- Report from Utah Data Alliance and shared data for benchmarking student progress
