Free Seminar for UT Teachers

Are you a Utah teacher who wants to learn more about the U.S. naturalization process?

If so, you have until this Friday, Sept. 7, to register for a free seminar offered through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The seminar is designed for those teaching adults English as a second Language, civics and citizenship. Also welcomed are administrators, volunteers and managers.

“We would encourage our adult education staff to take advantage of this training,” said Kellie Tyrrell from the Utah State Office of Education’s alternative and adult education section. “Citizenship is an integral piece of English as a second language instruction for non-native adult students. This is an in-service option for adult education staff to provide valuable resources to their students.”

Here is what you will learn:

  • The naturalization process
  • The naturalization test and skill sets needed to prepare students for the naturalization interview and test
  • Teacher resources and publications, featuring an all new student-centered interactives for the citizenship classroom and demonstrations of lesson plans and activities

The seminar will be on Sept. 13 at the USCIS Salt Lake City Field Office on 660 S. and 200 East, Suite 400.
