It’s official — St
ate Superintendent of Public Instruction Larry Shumway will be retiring Jan. 1, 2013. The search for a new superintendent has begun. The public is invited to submit nominations and applications. The deadline for applications and supporting materials is Sept. 23.
The application should include the following:
A letter of application.
An updated vita outlining qualifications, educational background, professional experience, and noteworthy accomplishments.
A list of three references.

A seven-member committee made up of USOE board members Laurel O. Brown, Kim R. Burningham, Janet A. Cannon, David L. Crandall, C. Mark Openshaw, Tami W. Pyfer, and Debra G. Roberts will conduct the hiring process. The committee hopes to have the Board in a position to name a new superintendent by mid-October.
