The Utah State Board of Education put full funding of growth and an increase in the weighted-pupil unit, the amount of money a district receives for each student, at the top of its budget priorities for the next legislative session.
During the session, the board will ask the Utah Legislature for between $75 million and $100 million to cover growth. Also, it will request a 2 percent increase for WPU.
The board voted on the two items and a list of Utah State Office of Education activities/initiatives during its September meeting.
If you missed the meeting, here are full details on each of the initiatives, their estimated funding requests; all categorized as ongoing, one-time or potential funding.
