Survey for Title I
Waiver Request

On April 11, 2013 the U.S. Department of Education offered states the option to request a waiver on behalf of its local education agencies (LEAs) of the Title I requirement that limits a carryover of Title I funds to 15 percent except once in three years.

With the uncertainty of Title I allocations to LEAs as a result of federal sequestration of funds, the Utah State Office of Education proposes requesting the waiver of this requirement on behalf of districts and charter schools that receive Title I funding.

This would allow Utah’s LEAs to request authority to carry over more than 15 percent of its Title I funds more than once in a three-year period.

The waiver request process requires states to provide opportunity for public input regarding the waiver request.

We request that you take just a few minutes to complete the attached survey by Friday, April 26, 2013. This process is intended to meet the LEA portion of the public input requirement.
