Call for Nominees

The “Coalition of Minorities Advisory Committee (CMAC) which advises the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) on the educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students in Utah” (CMAC Brochure 2012), will have the following vacancies open effective December 31, 2014. The vacancies are listed by ethnic group as well as the number of representatives needed to fill each position.

  • Asian American representative – 1
  • African American representative – 1
  • Hispanic/Latino representative – 1
  • American Indian representative – 3
  • Pacific Islander representative – 1

If you are aware of any individuals from these listed ethnic groups that would be willing to be considered by the USBE for nomination to serve on the CMAC, please submit the following information:

This information must be received at our office by October 22, 2014 to be considered.
The Equity Section will contact each nominee to confirm willingness to accept a nomination and ask for a short biography. When a CMAC vacancy occurs, the compiled list and biographies will then be submitted to the USBE for its consideration. The USBE will select those names it wishes to consider for appointment. Those selected for appointment will be formally notified in writing by the State Board Chair. Please see attached description of CMAC’s role with USBE.
