February is CTE Month

 Career and Technical Education Month

This year’s theme is: Recognizing Classroom Innovators. CTE Month is a great opportunity to  promote your program and advocate for CTE. You can pick a day, a week, or the entire month to spotlight your CTE program. CTE Month resources are available HERE.

GOALS of CTE Month:

  • Inform students about the importance of choosing a CTE Pathway.
  • Increase student awareness of careers, education, and training.
  • Strengthen student engagement through the College and Career Plan.
  • Increase parent involvement and awareness of CTE programs.
  • Promote discussion of postsecondary options—training, certificate, and degrees.

According to the Harvard Graduate School of Education Pathways to Prosperity Project, “Teens who have good high school work experiences are more likely to be inspired to stay in school, graduate, and adopt ambitious goals.” Here in Utah and across the nation, Career and Technical Education gives students experience in practical, meaningful applications of academic, technical and employability skills, thus improving the quality of their education and increasing student engagement.

Tell us how you’re celebrating CTE Month. Send your photos and stories to UtahCTE@schools.utah.gov.
