The Utah State Board of Education will hold committee meetings, meet as the Governing Board of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, and hold a study session at the Board’s office, 250 E 500 South, Salt Lake City on Thursday, August 3, 2017 beginning at 8 a.m. The full Board will meet on Friday, August 4 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Board’s Salt Lake City office. Highlights of this month’s meetings include:

  • Discussion of options for ninth and 10th grade assessments for Spring 2018 and 2019.
  • Consideration of an update to the rule governing the Centennial Scholarship for Early Graduation that will allow students to defer scholarships in accordance with recent changes in Utah law.
  • Consideration of an amendment to the Board’s online educator licensing record rule that would exclude disciplinary records prior to Jan. 1, 2017 from the online database. The records would still be available to those making a request for them.
  • Discussion of cut scores for school letter grades as required by state law.
  • Consideration of adding flexibility to middle school course requirements.
