Comment Sought on Proposed Utah Educational Leadership Standards

The Utah State Board of Education is seeking public comment on its proposed Utah Educational Leadership Standards.

Clear and consistent leadership standards can assist all educational stakeholders in understanding these expectations. These standards, grounded in current research and the real-life experiences of educational leaders, articulate the leadership that our schools need and our students deserve. They are student-centric, outlining foundational principles of leadership to guide the practice of educational leaders so they can move the needle on student learning and achieve more equitable outcomes for all students.

The current Utah Educational Leadership Standards have been reviewed by a standards review committee and draft review standards have been written under the direction of the Utah State Board of Education. The writing team consisted of principals, charter school directors, district central office staff, superintendents, and representatives from higher education. The writing teams used a number of resources in their work.

Those interested can learn more about the standards here.

You can voice your opinion on the standards through a survey (which includes the text of the standards) here.
